Changing navigation button order
Learn how to customize the order of navigation buttons on your store pages.
Article ID: SLN18673
Note: This process is for stores utilizing templates created using Design Wizard.
The Store Editor allows you to customize the order of navigation buttons on all pages using a variable (Nav-buttons). You can edit the order of navigation buttons directly on the Home page in Edit mode, or you can override the Nav-buttons variable on any page to customize the order of buttons on a specific page. Since navigation buttons should be consistent between pages to make it easy for visitors to navigate your site, you will edit the Nav-buttons variable on the Variables page to make the order consistent across all pages.
Scroll to the Navigation Links section (Button Properties section in Store Editor 2.0) and click the Change button next to Nav-buttons.
In the Edit List Position dialog:
Under Position, enter a new value for the button(s) you wish to move. The number in fields represent the order of buttons in the navigation bar (top to bottom or left to right). Fields without numbers represent buttons that are not part of the navigation bar.
Click the Update button when finished.
Click the Update button on the Edit page.
Publish when ready. Note: Making changes in Variables will require a full publish. Learn more.
Note: For Store Editor 3.0 templates, only Home, Info, Privacy, Email, Index, and Show-order are valid options. These changes are made to all navigation bars throughout your store with the exception of any pages with variable overrides.
You can also change the button order on a specific page by overriding the Nav-buttons variable.
Navigate to the page on which you wish to change the button order.
Click the Edit button in the Editor toolbar.
Click the Override Variable button at the top of the page.
On the Override Variable dialog:
Select Nav-buttons from the pull-down menu
Click the Update button.
In the Custom Properties section, next to Nav-buttons, click the Change button.
In the Edit List Position dialog:
Under Position, enter a new value for the button(s) you wish to change. The number in fields represent the order of buttons in the navigation bar (top to bottom or left to right). Fields without numbers represent buttons that are not part of the navigation bar. Note: You will need to enter numbers for the button order rather than reorder buttons.
Click the Update button when finished.
Click the Update button on the Edit page.
Publish when ready. Note: Making changes in Variables will require a full publish. Learn more.
This change affects only the navigation buttons on the page you edited. Repeat these steps to make changes to additional pages.
