Create a social post

Learn more about the Post feature for Localworks Standard and Premier plans.

The Post feature on Localworks allows you to make posts on your social media accounts and your website.

Note: To determine the Localworks version you are using, review the navigation menu. If the navigation menu is located at the top, you are using version 1. Version 2 has the menu navigation on the left side.

Create a post

  1. Sign in to your My Services page.
  2. Click Dashboard

  3. Click Social

  4. You will land in the Scheduler section. 

  5. Click Post Now or click a date in the calendar.  

  6. In the Create Message section:
    • Select the network to post. Note: A green check should appear on networks you want to post to.
    • Write a message. Note: The message box tools will change based on the network selected.
    • Upload a photo/video or choose one from the library. Note: Checkmark if you have the right to use the image.
    • Add optional tags. Note: Tags help organize your content in the library.
    • Optionally schedule your post. Note: You can select to post at peak time or +/- minutes.  

  7. A preview of your post will appear next to your message.  

  8. Click Post Now to publish your post. 

Note: You can also post to social media by clicking the Post Now button located above the navigation menu at the top left.

Localworks v1

In order to create social posts, you will first need to create a Post widget and add it to your website.

Create a Post widget

  1. Sign in to your My Services page.
  2. Click the Dashboard link.
  3. From the Knowledge Manager tab, click the Widgets link.
  4. On the left, click the Create link.
  5. The following step differs depending on how many locations you have in your account:
    • If you have one location, go to step 6.
    • If you have multiple locations, select the desired location or folder from the pull-down menu.
  6. Under Choose your Theme, choose your desired theme. Note: Click the Advanced button for further customization options.
  7. Under Choose your installation Method, choose your preferred method:
    • WordPress - This method can only be used with WordPress websites. Click the Get the plugin button to access the Yext Plugin page. Follow the instructions to install the plugin.
    • Embed code - This method can be used with all websites in which you can edit the HTML. Copy the embed code and paste it into the desired location on your website.
    • Send to my webmaster - This option allows you to send an email to your webmaster or developer with instructions needed to install the widget. Select the location and specify a From and To email address. You can personalize the message to your liking. Click the Send email button when ready.
  8. Add the widget to your website using the chosen method and publish your website.

You're ready to create your post.

Create a post

  1. Sign in to your My Services page.
  2. Click the Dashboard link.
  3. From the Localworks tab, click the Post link.
  4. Click inside the Make a new post field.
  5. On the New Post section:
    • Click the Add Photo box to upload an image.
      Note: Accepted formats are .jpg, .png, .gif, and .webp. The maximum file size is 5MB.
    • In the Make a new post field, add content for your post.
      Note: See below for character limits for each site.
    • Click the + button if you wish to add an embedded field (your business name, address, website URL, etc.).
    • Select the sites you wish to post to.
    • Click the Post Now button to publish your post.

A preview of your post will appear below. Click the arrow on the top-left corner of a post to delete or copy the post.
