What happened?
Effective January 15th, 2023, we no longer support the Site Solution editor. This means that customers can no longer edit/publish sites via Site Solution. Live sites are being converted to static HTML in order to continue showing on the internet beyond the end-of-life date of January 15th. If you previously had a map on your site, that map will be updated to serve using Google Maps (previously, Site Solution sites were using Bing Maps for this feature). No functionality change is expected.

How can I tell if my site was built using Site Solution?
One of the easiest ways to see if your live site was built in Site Solution is by viewing your live site in a browser window. When viewing your site, right click and select
View Page Source. This should open a new tab on your browser with the site's source code. In looking at the top line of the code, you should see an indicator of the tool used to build your site. For Site Solution sites, it'll look like this:
What are my options?
There are a number of options for you, depending on what you'd like to do with your site in the future. Here are some of the main options you will want to consider:
What happens if I do nothing?
Nothing, really. Your current website will remain online, you just won't be able to make any changes to it with Site Solution. In order to make changes, you'll need to build a new site with a current tool like Website Builder or WordPress.
What if I need to make changes to my website but don't want to rebuild?
If you wish to make changes to your site but are not yet ready to rebuild completely, you can edit the page using the cPanel HTML editor. The cPanel HTML editor is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that can work with pages that originated from Site Solution. No knowledge of HTML needed. Just remember the cPanel HTML editor and Site Solution were not designed to work together. Updates to your text and images should be ok. Changes to your layout or creating new pages cannot be guaranteed.
You can find out more information about editing an HTML file within your File Manager within
this help page. Please note that while we provide basic instructions on how to use our HTML editor, we are unable to assist with specific edit requests.
I like Site Solution. Why should I pick a new tool?
Site Solution was an innovative tool when it was created, but the internet and how we ingest information has changed significantly since then. Things like mobile-friendly themes and responsive design just weren't concerns when we created Site Solution, and the tool is no longer relevant for the internet of today. Now more sites are viewed on a mobile device than on a desktop; and we want to make sure you are able to reach all of your potential customers which would mean a mobile friendly site is a must to stay visible.
If you're unsure about whether you want to make a new site, a good test for readability to your customers is to look at your site on your desktop computer, and then a tablet (iPad or Android is fine) and then your smartphone. If you're able to see the site without issues, you may be able to delay a rebuild provided you're happy with the content.
Fun fact: Yahoo Site Solution started as a side project that a Yahoo engineer with some free time decided to build. It was first released to the public back in 2007; the same year that Apple launched the very first iPhone.
Can I keep my domain name if I build a new website?
Yes! Nothing changes about your underlying service, so your domain name and business email addresses are not affected: you'll just have a great new site!
What will happen to my current website while I build the new one?
The website that your visitors see won't change until you publish your new website. When you publish, the new site will replace your current one.
What tool should I use to build my new website?
We have an article helping to explain the main options for choosing a site building tool
over here but will explain our top recommendations.
Website Builder* - If you want to get started quickly but are not very technical, you can easily build a modern site using Website Builder. Website Builder is web-based, so there's no software to install or logins to worry about: just select a theme and get building! You can visit our
Website Builder Index to learn more about this option.
WordPress - If you plan to build a large site with lots of updates should consider WordPress. This powerful, open source software powers around a third of the websites currently online, so you'll be in good company! You can learn how to install WordPress to start your new site in
this help article.
*Website Builder is temporarily unavailable while we work to complete our hosting upgrades (more information on that can be found over
here). We are expecting Website Builder to become available again in the near future, please stay tuned.
Can you build a new website for me?
You bet we can! Our team of writers and designers are waiting to build you a beautiful new WordPress website. Once built, our design team will continue to maintain your site, ensuring you receive all the important security updates and perform updates to your content for you.

What happens if Site Solution is not my current site?
If you previously built a site in Site Solution, but have replaced it, we were unable to create a static HTML copy of your site. Any files that were in your File Manager (images, linked files, etc.) will still be present. But Site Solution had to be the live site to make the static HTML version. If you need to retrieve a copy of the previous Site Solution based site, please visit the Wayback Machine at
Archive.org.
