Exclude products from taxation

Learn how to prevent certain items from being taxable.

Article ID: SLN19842

There may be products which your store sells that you are not required to charge tax. Consult a business tax advisor or get information from your state's tax department to determine which products are taxable. To locate your state tax department's web site, visit the Federation of Tax Administrators.

By default, each time you create a product in the Store Editor or Catalog Manager, the taxable field is set to Yes. When set to Yes this item will be added to the taxable amount of the order. You can automatically exclude such items from tax charges by setting the Taxable field in the Store Editor or Catalog Manager to No.
