Add a video in Website Builder

Learn how to add YouTube or Vimeo videos to your site.

You can add YouTube or Vimeo videos as a section background or embed the video code using a Custom widget.

Add a video using a Custom widget

  1. From your Manage Site page, click Edit site or Site Design.
    The Edit site and Site Design links.
  2. Go to the section on which you wish to embed your video.
  3. Click inside any item element then mouse over the : icon.
    The : icon.
  4. Click the Add Element icon.
    Add a new element.
  5. In the Add a new element to item dialog, select Widget.
    Select widget.
  6. In the Widgets dialog, select Custom.
    The Custom widget.
  7. Click Code.
    The Code link.
  8. Delete any sample code, enter the video embed code, then click the SAVE button.

  9. Publish when ready.
    The Publish button.

Note: Scripts such as the embed code will only run on your live site. On your editable site, you will see a placeholder.
The placeholder for your video appears on the Design version of your site.

Add a video as a section background

Note: Not all section types will allow a video background.

  1. From your Manage Site page, click Edit site or Site Design.
    The Edit site and Site Design links.
  2. Go to the section on which you wish to embed your video.
  3. Click outside of any item elements then click the : icon.
    The : icon.
  4. Click the Add Element icon.
    Add a new element.
  5. Select Video. A default sample video will be added.
    Select Video.
  6. On the new section, click the sample video, then select Edit Video.

  7. Video Settings will have the following options:
    • Choose the Video Source: YouTube or Vimeo.
    • Enter the Video ID. Note: Be sure to click Save after entering the Video ID.
    • Autoplay (muted)
    • Cover
    • Mute
    • Loop
    • Click Remove Video to delete the video.
      Click the arrows next to Filters and Opacity & Color for additional options

    • Choose a filter for the video.
    • Select opacity and color settings.

  8. Publish when ready.
    The Publish button.

Please note: Chrome v. 65 and up does not allow embedded videos to autoplay with sound. If you wish to have a video autoplay in Chrome, you will need to make sure the sound is muted beforehand.
