There are core files in WordPress that are not meant to be modified. It is important to periodically verify the integrity of your WordPress installation against malicious software that can damage your website. Performing an MD5 checksum against the checksum of the original core files provided by WordPress is a quick way to check if your website’s core files have been modified. Learn more about checksum verification at WordPress.org.

Important: There are select WordPress files the checksum verification does not check, such as index.php and wp-config.php. 

Check WordPress integrity

1. Sign in to your My Services page.

2. Click the Hosting link.
    

3. Click the WordPress Management on the left toolbar. Note: WordPress Management is not available for the WordPress Essentials Hosting plan.  

   

4. Click the Check WordPress Integrity link for the WordPress website you would like to check.
   

5. In the modal, click the Verify Checksums button.
   

6. If the checksums are successfully verified, a success message will appear. Click the Close button.

7. If the checksums fail to match, an unsuccessful message will appear. Click the Reinstall WordPress Core button.

8. To confirm reinstallation, click the Reinstall WordPress Core button.
   

Important: Reinstalling WordPress core files doesn’t affect the site content; however, it is recommended to create a website backup.
