Your merchant account includes settings related to when authorizations are made and for how much. You can edit these settings in the Payment Center.

Access and edit advanced processor settings

1. Sign in to your My Services page.

2. Click the Store link.

   

3. Go to Payment Center.
   
4. Click the Edit button next to the processor you want to edit.
   

5. In the payment processor advanced settings dialog:

   • PayPal ID (PayPal Payments Pro only) - Displays the PayPal Account Id associated with the merchant account.
   • Real-time authorization:
     • Do not authorize at time of order - Payment authorization will not be performed when an order is placed, and the order will not be charged automatically.
     • Authorize before confirming order - Authorization will be performed before an order is confirmed. This allows for use of Risk Tools to mark orders as pending review, and can help prevent fraudulent orders for downloadable goods. Selecting this field is highly recommended and can help to tell buyers when there is a problem with their card type.
     • Authorize and charge order automatically (not recommended) - Authorization will be performed at the time of order, and authorized orders will be charged automatically. Not recommended for merchants selling downloadable goods, as orders cannot be reviewed for signs of fraud before buyers can download. Also, some states require you to ship orders within a short time after receiving funds.

   • Authorization floor - Enter an amount below which authorizations are not performed. It is recommended you keep this amount low.
   • Authorization headroom (percent) - Enter an amount to represent a percentage of the order total to be added to an authorization. For example, a 10% authorization headroom on a $100 order would mean an authorization of $110. Use this option if you add shipping or tax charges to orders after checkout to cover those costs. This is not needed if you have shipping and tax calculated in checkout.
   • Authorization headroom (order total plus flat rate) - Enter an amount to represent a flat rate to be added to an order for an authorization. For example, a $10 authorization headroom on a $100 order would mean an authorization of $110. Use this option if you add flat rate shipping or tax charges to orders after checkout to cover those costs. This is not needed if you have shipping and tax calculated in checkout.

6. Edit your settings then click the OK button.
   
7. Return to Store Manager and publish your Order Settings.
