Secure your storefront

Learn how to make your desktop and mobile store secure by using Security Manager.

Article ID: SLN29233

Important: Your SSL certificate will be valid for your root domain (e.g., widgetdesigns.com) and your www subdomain (e.g., www.widgetdesigns.com). As such, if you change the A and CNAME records for your root domain and your www subdomain, the certificate cannot be issued and cannot be renewed. The A and CNAME records for for your root domain and your www subdomain must be kept at their default settings if you wish to use the certificate on the Turbify platform.

Before securing your store through Security Manager, you will need to find all insecure HTTP elements. These elements may include:

  • images

  • videos

  • PDFs

  • scripts

  • CSS files

If these elements were uploaded to Store Files, locate each file and reference them using the relative file path rather than the full URL. Content in your Web Hosting Control Panel's File Manager is insecure at this time. If there are any references to files in the File Manager, you will need to upload them to Store Files and reference them using the relative file path

If your store has a custom template, you may need to speak with your developer or a developer in our Developer Network for assistance with securing your store. For more information, please see our secure storefront FAQ.

    The Continue button.

  9. You will see a confirmation that your store is now secure!  Click the Disable secure storefront button to disable the secure storefront.
    The Secure Storefront Confirmation dialog.

  10. If you choose to disable secure storefront, confirm by clicking Disable. If you change your mind, click Keep my storefront secure.
The Disable secure storefront confirmation dialog.

Note: If you receive an error when installing your SSL certificate, go to the Domain Names page in Store Editor then click the Set Redirect button (without making any other changes). Learn how. This will update some settings on the back end of your store. Afterwards, try the installation once more. If you're still receiving an error, please contact support.

Important: If your store's primary domain's nameservers are pointed away from Turbify and redirected to your store via A/CNAME records from external nameservers, please ensure there is no proxy on those A/CNAME entries such as Cloudflare sets by default because it can cause the annual SSL certificate renewal to fail, which can disrupt your store's availability online.
