Please note that to send and receive your business email using POP or IMAP, you must create an app password. Important: If you have recently updated your business email to our new platform, you must create a new app password and replace the previous one.
Important: Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a protocol used by applications to communicate securely across a network. In order to better protect your data and that of your users, as of March 1, 2018, Turbify no longer support TLS 1.0 encryption. After that date, we will support only TLS version 1.2. Older versions of mail clients may no longer work, so please contact your software provider if you run into issues.
Both POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) allow people to get access to their email from a remote server; however, that is where most similarities end.
Advantages
Messages are stored on locally on your computer so you can access your business email offline.
If you cancel your plan, your business email will already be backed up.
Disadvantages
POP simply downloads email to your computer, and usually (but not always) deletes the email from the remote server. The problems arise if you have more than one device where you read your mail (desktop, laptop, tablet or phone). Here's why it's bad: You have to delete or file the same email on every device. Logging into each device, you will see lots of unread emails with no indication of which you deleted, read, flagged or filed. Any folders you created and organize on one device won't be replicated on the other devices.
You will most likely see connection errors if you try to access your POP account on more than one device.
If you wish to access your business email via POP as well as the Yahoo Mail interface, you will need to set up the client to leave messages on the server and not to delete them. Learn more.
Advantages
IMAP allows users to store their email on remote servers so if you have an issue with your hard drive, your emails will be safe.
This two-way protocol also allows the user to synchronize their email among multiple devices, which is extremely important today, when most people have at least two devices - their laptop and smartphone.
Disadvantages
You won't be able to access your messages offline.
You cannot reconfigure an existing POP account for IMAP connection as you'll lose all saved and sent messages stored on the device.
